洪秀柱代表國民黨參選總統的態勢鮮明，先前呼聲相當高的立法院長王金平按照黨內規定，不能繼續擔任不分區立委。洪秀柱18號接受媒體節目專訪時指出，王金平如果要擔任立法院長，現在唯一的方式就是參選區域立委，只要民進黨願意在王金平參選的選區退讓的話，王金平當選後，還是能續任立法院長。
洪秀柱：『如果說今天王院長要再回到立法院，只有一個方式--回去選區，選出來之後，我相信以王院長的能耐、對立法院生態的了解，他大概就還是院長。他的這一關就是，他願不願意下去選？』
洪秀柱表示，王金平在政壇打滾幾十年，在立法院有他一定的功能，但也招致很多批評。據她了解，黨內的不分區立委連任規定已經為王金平修改過一次，要再修改不太可能，改了很難對外界交代。
